This package went to Tom in the South of France by DHL in early December. It was processed through the DDP system, (delivery duty paid) so no surprise import tax or VAT when it arrived, having all been done by ourselves before it left.
For the purpose of transportation and keeping the length under 3m this keel band is made with a halving joint 200 mm forward of the rudder housing.

Tom received the package to the South of France, duty and delivery paid, and now is ready to fit, but with questions!

This is where I can draw on my experience at JLJ, having fitted numerous keel bands, so I am experienced at pinpointing the anomalies that crop up. From Tom’s questions yesterday evening, I was able to send a quick reply and further pics that evening, with a resume of the procedure in the morning. This is what JLJ do! Respond and give first class valuable information.
You can see the full fitting procedure in our how-to section.

And this is how it looks after fitting, a really good and professional job. Tom commented:
As you can see I managed with the help of a friend, to successfully change JOJO’s keelband in less than 2 days. I would like to ask you a quote for a set of new floorboards sent to France. I would like to have them unpainted and if possible only with S/S screws.
Not only a successful export to France, but my keel band kit with a halving joint has been fitted with great success by Tom and his pal. Now on to get a floor board set made for his Mk 3 Lugger ‘Jojo’ and delivered by DHL to the South of France, leaving Wales in 10 days from part-made stock.
